Jianfeng CAI

Research interest

Prof. Cai’s research interests are on the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of problems related to information, data, and signals. His previous research focuses on the efficient representation, sensing, and optimization of high-dimensional data, with applications to medical imaging, compressed sensing, signal processing, and machine learning.

Biography

Prof. Cai is currently a Professor of the Department of Mathematics at HKUST. He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees from Fudan University in 2000 and 2004 respectively, followed by his PhD from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007, all in Mathematics. Before joining HKUST in 2015, he worked in the National University of Singapore, the University of California, Los Angeles, and The University of Iowa. He was a highly-cited researcher in Mathematics by Clarivate Analytics in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
